Chloroquine Phosphate, a well-known anti-malarial drug, has been identified as a probable cure for Coronavirus (COVID-19).
It had been reported that Chinese experts, based on the result of clinical trials; have confirmed that Chloroquine Phosphate has a certain curative effect on the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Further, the experts have “unanimously” suggested the inclusion of chloroquine in the next version of the treatment guidelines; and applied in wider clinical trials as soon as possible. Specifically, this was disclosed by Sun Yanrong; deputy head of the China National Center for Biotechnology Development under the Ministry of Science and Technology; at a press conference.
Chloroquine phosphate, a medicine that has been in the market for many years, has proven effective in treating #COVID19 and shows positive clinical effects: China’s Ministry of Science and Technology.
In addition to chloroquine phosphate, anti-viral drug Favilavir has secured approval from the National Medical Products Administration of China; to treat coronavirus Covid-19. Equally important, the third is Gilead’s experimental drug, remdesivir.

The medication, which is very effective in the treatment of malaria, is well known to many on these shores. Specifically, chloroquine works by interfering with the growth of parasites in the red blood cells of the human body.
Apart from malaria, Chloroquine, now proven effective against Coronavirus, is also used to treat amebiasis (infection caused by amoebae).
However, Chloroquine Phosphate is also very popular for its side effects. Many users allergic to it often report severe skin rash or itching; which remains the most popular side effect. Nevertheless, other side effects include headache, loss of appetite, diarrhoea, upset stomach/stomach pain, hair loss and mood or mental changes.
