Pulling it off the Road

Following the lockdown of Lagos by the Federal and State Governments to break the Coronavirus infection chain, LASEMA’s continued essential services has recovered an articulated vehicle conveying two 20feet containers that fell and shut the only exit road from the Nigerian Port.

The incident which occurred along the Oshodi – Mile 2 – Apapa express road, reportedly happened inward Sunrise area, towards the Apapa Ports in Lagos, while the fallen containers were attributed to carelessness on the part of the driver on the one hand and poor state of the roads on the other hand.

According to Preliminary Reports, “the LASEMA Response Team on arrival at the above scene, saw a fallen truck with an unknown registration number loaded with two 20feet containers.

“It was revealed that the truck fell due to bad road and reckless driving which led to total shutdown of the only exit road from the Nigerian Port.

“No loss of life or mortality was recorded.

“The Nigerian Police Force and LASEMA Response Team were responders at the scene, where the Agency’s heavy duty equipment (Crane) was deployed for the recovery operation.

“The truck and the two 20feet containers were recorvered and reloaded on the same truck (after being repositioned) by the Agency’s heavy duty equipment (Crane) setting the road free for vehicular activities”.
