Nigeria Adds 481,418 New Internet Subscribers, 1,525,020 Telephone Lines This August

 

Nigeria’s active subscribers for internet data services have increased by 140,225,598 million in August 2021, compared with 139,744,180 million in July 2021, according to an industry report released by the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC).

 

According to the commission’s industry statistics report, mobile (GSM) internet customers added 481,418 new active internet subscribers in July 2021, bringing the total to 139,870,047 million for the month under review, up from 139,384,180 million in July 2021.

 

According to the report, Touchaheart understands that fixed wired internet service provider lost 105 existing internet subscribers, and voice over internet protocol (VoIP) let go of 4,344 its internet subscribers in August 2021.

 

Nigerian telephone subscribers climbed by 1,525,020 million in August 2021, rising to 189,330,257 million from 187,805,237 in the previous month, according to the commission. From 98.39 percent in July 2021, teledensity grew to 99.18 percent in August 2021.

 

Teledensity is the number of active telephone connections per one hundred (100) inhabitants living within an area and is expressed as a percentage figure.

 

On market shares of the number of active subscribers for telephony services on each of the licensed service providers utilizing different technologies in August 2021, MTN control 38.70% of mobile market share, with a total of 73,133,330 active telephone subscribers, Globacom has 27.50% and 51,983,266 subscribers, Airtel has 26.91% share with 50,860,024 and 9mobile settled with 6.89% and 13,021,179 active telephone subscribers.
