The International Day of the Girl is observed on October 11, 2021. This is a global observance declared by the United Nations to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.

The Giant Media International (TGMI), on International Day of the Girl, celebrate girls’ right to education and highlighting the need to eliminate all forms of discrimination against girls.

Girls face multiple challenges purely because of their age and gender. In many of the world’s poorest places, the odds are stacked against them when factors like ethnicity and disability heighten the existing disadvantages that they face. From being denied an education to being forced into child marriage, girls face a myriad of obstacles that prevent them from realising their full potential.

Girls who stay in school are more likely to support themselves, look after their health, avoid early marriage and pregnancy and contribute to society.
