MTN CEO, Karl Toriola Apologies To Subscribers For Recent Network Outage

MtN Nigeria Communications Plc has issued an apology to customers following a network outage that left them without service for several hours.

Touchaheart Nigeria reports that In a viral video, the company’s CEO, Karl Toriola, apologized for the outage that lasted several hours on Saturday, October 9, 2021.

“We had an outage last Saturday that left customers without service for several hours,” he explained

I’d like to begin with heartfelt apologies on behalf of the entire MTN team. We sincerely regret the inconvenience this has caused so many of you in our MTN family.

We understand that millions of people rely on us to keep in touch with their loved ones, run their businesses, and organize their lives.

We take that responsibility and privilege extremely seriously, which is why we’re putting new safeguards in place to ensure that nothing like what happened last Saturday happens again.

Our technical experts have located the source of the problem to an error that transferred all of our 4G clients to the 3G frequency, overburdening the 3G band and causing a network-wide effect.

Our engineers were successful in resolving the issue.

I’m aware that other technology companies have recently had comparable problems. I want to reassure you that the incident on Saturday was unrelated to those disruptions.

This incident was not sabotaged in any way. It was an unforgivable blunder. While we work to reinforce our network to prevent future disruptions.

We wanted to do something more than simply extend the validity of time-limited plans for another 24 hours, which we did as soon as the service was restored.

We can’t make up for the time you lost last Saturday, but we can make up for the money you spent yesterday.

Every MTN customer who used time and airtime between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. yesterday has been refunded.

This, we think, indicates how much we value our customers. Without a doubt, you are our top priority.

We all face hurdles, young and old, professionally and unprofessionally; what matters is how we respond. We’ll keep improving and growing even if you don’t join us.

Thank you so much for all of your assistance and for collaborating with us for the past two decades. We look forward to the next 20 years and beyond with you, our customers, and our family. He said, “We’re on the move.”
