Iyorchia Ayu Emerges PDP National Chairman

 

Iyorchia Ayu has been elected as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national chairperson.

Touchaheart Nigeria reports that in the early hours of Sunday, Ayu’s appearance marked the end of the PDP’s elected national convention.

The former Senate President entered the electoral convention as the Northern PDP leaders’ consensus candidate.

Despite the unanimity, delegates cast their votes for all of the candidates.

A total of 3,511 National Convention credentialed delegates were called to vote.

Delegates from Abia and Adamawa states were the first to be summoned. The state of Abia has 116 delegates, while Adamawa has 118.

According to Alhaji Umaru Fintiri, Chairman of the Convention’s Central Planning Committee and Governor of Adamawa State, the PDP had 3,701 delegates, of whom 3,511 were accredited.
