ASUU Gives FG 48-hrs To Rescue UNIABUJA Kidnapped Victims

 

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has given the Federal Government 48 hours to free the victims kidnapped from the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) in the Federal Capital.

 

Touchaheart Nigeria reports that Dr Kasim Umar, Chairman of ASUU in the institution, told journalists in Abuja on Thursday that they are dissatisfied with security agencies’ inability to rescue their colleagues 48 hours after the abduction. According to him, the kidnappers have made contact with the victims’ family members.

Dr. Umar also stated that the kidnappers are demanding N50 million for each of the six people kidnapped.

 

The lecturers expressed their dissatisfaction with the security agencies’ failure to deploy adequate surveillance equipment to track down criminals.

 

Umar’s remark comes just a few days after unidentified gunmen attacked the school’s staff quarters.

 

Six people were abducted, including two professors, one senior lecturer, and three of their family members. Those abducted were identified as Professor Obansa and his son, Professor Oboscolo, his son and daughters, and Dr Tobins.
