The Nigerian Football Federation has fired Gernot Rohr

The Nigeria Football Federation has fired Gernot Rohr, the head coach of the Nigerian national football team (NFF).

Touchaheart Nigeria reports that Gernot Rohr, the coach of the Super Eagles, has been fired as the coach of the Nigeria Senior National Team.

The decision to fire the Franco-German coach was made when a firm affiliated with Nigeria’s senior national team agreed to pay the coach’s termination provision in his contract.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has informed the former Niger and Burkina Faso coach of his decision, and has begun the search for a new coach to lead the team to the 2022 World Cup Playoffs as well as the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year.

Nigeria will compete for a berth in Qatar 2022 against one of the following teams: Ghana, Egypt, Cameroon, Mali, or the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He took over as coach in August 2016 and led the team to third place in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
