Before escaping, the son of a Hilton Hotel owner oversaw the evacuation and burial of an OAU student – Osun CP

Before escaping, the son of a Hilton Hotel owner oversaw the evacuation and burial of an OAU student – Osun CP

On Monday, Wale Olokode, the Commissioner of Police in Osun State, said one of the suspects in the death of Timothy Adegoke, a Masters student at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, confessed that Roheem Adedoyin, the son of the owner of Hiltons Hotels and Resorts, Ile-Ife, arranged for the corpse to be evacuated and taken to the bush.

According to the police chief, Roheem, the Managing Director of the hotel where the late Adegoke allegedly died, orchestrated the body’s removal from the facility and burial without telling the authorities.

Touchaheart Nigeria reports that Olokode, speaking on a radio show called ‘Frank Talk,’ which is broadcast on Rave FM in Osogbo, claimed Roheem is on the run, adding that over the course of the police investigation, detectives were able to identify where the body was buried.

He said, “One of the suspects confessed that the MD is the son of Dr Ramon Adedoyin, his name is Roheem Adedoyin who is now at large. He also confessed that he (Roheem) organised the corpse to be thrown into a bush. The MD along with two managers took the corpse to the bush.

“None of the staff members informed the police. It was the report of the missing person that made the anti-kidnapping team who then discovered through their meticulous investigation and traced the so-called missing person to that hotel and then traced the corpse, where it was found.”

Olokode also denied knowing about Adedoyin’s audio tape in which he proclaimed his innocence while in police detention, and promised stakeholders that the postmortem report would aid the police investigation.

Meanwhile, at the start of the autopsy at Osun State University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo, Adegoke’s remains were carried out of the mortuary and transported in an ambulance to the Radiation Room, where an x-ray was performed.

The body was then delivered to the mortuary about 12.55 p.m., where a team of pathologists began the post-mortem after examining the deceased’s last garments before his death.

According to Naim Adekilekun, counsel to the late Adegoke’s family, the four-hour procedure, which was witnessed by representatives of all parties in the case, began at 2.30 p.m. and ended at 6.30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the late Adegoke’s family has requested the police to clarify their role in the purported preferential treatment given to the hotel’s owner, Mr Ramon Adedoyin, while he was in their custody.

Adekilekun made the demand while speaking to journalists on Monday at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo. He said the police must assure all parties involved that justice would be served.

He also demanded an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Adedoyin’s production of an audio in which he denied involvement in the death of the late Adegoke, despite police claims that he was in their custody.

“The police need to clarify the air on the purported preferential and VIP treatments being provided the owner of the hotel, Mr Rahman Adedoyin,” his statement said in part.

“This is already in the public domain and for the sake of fairness and an assurance of justice, the police need to speak up on this.

“We have also watched with dismay, the various attempts to confuse members of the public with endless statements bordering on the ‘innocence’ of the chairman and founder of the hotel, Rahman Adedoyin.“We would rather prefer that all the suspects await their days in court to prove their innocence instead of the resort to the use of the media to appeal to sentiments.”
