Omicron: The Premier League has ordered all 20 clubs to reintroduce their Covid emergency procedures

After Tottenham’s match against Brighton was postponed due to an outbreak in their squad, the Premier League has ordered all 20 clubs to re-impose emergency Covid precautions.

Touchaheart Nigeria reports that at the start of the season, the protocols, which include social distance, were implemented. Clubs with good vaccination rates were allowed to remove some of the limitations, but they must now reintroduce them to help prevent the spread of the Omicron form.

Spurs’ first-team squad has been affected by a Covid outbreak, which has forced them to postpone their Europa Conference League match against Rennes on Thursday night. On Sunday, their Premier League match against Brighton at the Amex was also canceled.

Top-flight officials have sent a document to all clubs advising them of the decision to revert to emergency measures as the pandemic continues to grip English sport.

Since the reintroduction of football in June 2020, teams have been required to follow a strict set of rules, including social separation and the use of PPE at training grounds, but things have begun to ease in recent weeks thanks to rising vaccination rates among players.

The Premier League, on the other hand, has informed all 20 teams that the long-standing emergency procedures have been reinstated.
