After being attacked by wild creatures, a good Samaritan saves a monkey by doing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation
After being attacked by wild canines, a guy saved a monkey by giving it constant chest compressions and even mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Touchaheart Nigeria reports that villagers captured video of the animal laying motionless on the ground when a local man, M Prabhu, hurries to administer first aid.
On Thursday, Dec. 9, an eight-month-old macaque was allegedly mauled by a gang of wild dogs in Tamil Nadu, India.
Prabhu is seen performing chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the animal in a frantic attempt to save it.
The monkey appears to have regained consciousness and is breathing faintly in Prabhu’s arms after a few minutes of persistent struggle.
Later, Prabhu transports the young monkey to a veterinarian clinic.
“We were on the Perambalur-Ariyalur road, when her condition deteriorated,” he said. “I was worried about her condition and decided to take her to a hospital after she did not drink water.
“I am lucky to be there on time and rescue the monkey.”
The monkey was given glucose and a vaccine in hospital and is now recovering.
Prabhu said he learned first aid back in 2010 and was “elated” to be able to put it to use.
“I request everyone to be kind to animals including wild ones,” he added. “If possible feed them.”
