JASHABEL TOUCHAHEART FOUNDATION Organises Annual Programme To Mark 16 Days of Activism And Empower Women/Students (Pictures)

 

 

In commemoration of the United Nations 16 days of activism for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, JTAH Foundation organised her annual empowerment programme for women and students in celebration of the Christmas season.

 

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.

 

The Talk Segment had as a topic of discussion: How To Checkmate Violence Against Women And Girl Child.

The struggle was started by activists at the inaugural Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991 and continues to be coordinated each year by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership.

 

The highpoints of the event which held on 23rd of December at the Springs Of Faith Auditorium, Ayobo, Lagos was; Distribution of various food items, clothing, shoes and others. 5 women were empowered while 5 students were supported financially for their school fees.

 

Speaking on the programme, the Executive Director, Mrs. Favour Benson said that the foundation conducts programmes annually to train guardians and parents and also render support for the education of the children.

 

“Annually our foundation have four programmes where we organise seminars for parents and guardians, we provide financial support for brilliant but indigent students resuming to schools as educational fund for them.

We do so many youth empowerment programme, teaching them about drug abuse and the consequences of drug abuse.

The event today is the one we do annually the we provide gifts and food items for them and other people.

We got people to donate to this project and this much we got is what we are giving out today to support them in this festive season.

Because of limited fund we are only empowering 5 woman and 5 students.” She said.

 

VIJU Industries supported the day’s event with carbonated drinks, juices (for children) and calendars.

 

The speakers at the event which was moderated by Favour Benson were, Innocent Eneta, Maureen Obire, Ngozi Okoro and Paul Obazele.

 

There were also different types of games with gifts for the winners to spice up the event.
