N-Power Disengaged Workers Asks NASS To Summon Sadiya Farouk Over Unpaid Allowance

NPower disengaged beneficiaries have called on the National Assembly to summon the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs Sadiya Umar Farouk over her failure to pay them their remunerated packages and allowances.

The NPower disengaged workers stated that this was necessary after their letters and other actions to ensure the payment of benefits yielded no positive results.

According to the disgruntled employees, Farouk is simply engaging in media propaganda because they have not received the allowances she promised them in press statements.

Remember that the disgruntled NPower workers issued a 15-day ultimatum to Sadiya Farouk, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, to address the pressing issues affecting them.

They threatened to take their protest to her Abuja office if she did not respond by the deadline specified in the ultimatum.

“Disengaged Npower beneficiaries to embark on another nationwide protest over Minister Sadiya’s failure to fulfill her numerous promises and continuous negligence of 500,000 exited beneficiaries,” according to the statement.

The affected workers issued a statement on Thursday, signed by the National N-Power President, Kabiru Aliyu Pelemi, and made available to SaharaReporters.

It was titled, ‘Requirement for the National Assembly to Call Hon. Sadiya Umar Farouk, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.’

“After several letters to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.

“I chose to write this article to call the attention of NASS to summon Honourable Sadiya Umar Farouk for questioning and answering for not handling the N-Power program properly,” the statement read.

The Honorable Minister has stated categorically in several interviews and on her social media handles that N-Power volunteers will be given an exit package, preferably before the end of the year 2021.

“All the while, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs has used various tactics and media propaganda to avoid fulfilling the exit package through her ostensibly Nexit Portal.”

“A reasonable number (of beneficiaries) from Batches A and B have yet to be paid their backlog.”

“What amazed me was that she didn’t use volunteers from Batches A and B to learn her lesson before strategizing for Batch C.”

“Batch C stream 1 N-Power volunteers were assigned to their Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) without regard for their location.”

“Some of them have to spend more than 400 naira a day on transportation to get to their PPA.”

“These Batch C stream 1 N-Power volunteers have only been paid for September and have yet to receive stipends for October, November, and December.”

“Does she want them to rely on a miracle in order to attend their PPA without receiving their stipend?”

“Some of these volunteers left where they were managing their lives to join N-Power in order to make life easier for them, especially given the economic situation in Nigeria.”

“The majority of N-Power Batch C Stream 1 applicants are currently unsure whether they should return to Npower or go back to where they were previously employed.

“The primary goal and objectives of the N-Power program (Batch A and B) were not met because 95 percent of the beneficiaries are now back on the streets and out of work, and batch C is about to repeat the same mistake.

“An official statement on the issue of the exit package for Batches A and B, as well as payment for Batch C, should be issued.

“As graduates, matured, and experienced Nigerians, we are tired of the way she handles the N-Power program, and it is clear that she has no regard for Nigerian youths.

“We hope and believe that the necessary work will be completed by the second week of January.”
