The APC Is Not A Come-and-take Party, APC Says To Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that its presidential ticket for 2023 would not be handed over on a silver platter to any candidate.

Touchaheart Nigeria reports that Yekini Nabena, the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, said this in response to Bola Tinubu, the party’s National Leader, publicly declaring his intention to run for President in 2023. Tinubu paid a visit to President Buhari at the statehouse on Monday, January 10, to advise him of his desire to run for President in 2023.

In response to Tinubu’s declaration, Nabena said:

“The APC will not give any of its members’ presidential ticket on a platter of gold. There are procedures so he (Tinubu) should continue consulting.

The APC is not a come-and-take party. He should consult even those contesting with him.

So consultations should continue and whoever emerges at the primaries will be the party’s presidential candidate for 2023”

Moment captured on video It has been revealed that Bola Tinubu notified President Buhari of his desire to run for President in 2023.

Touchaheat Nigeria reports that Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, has told President Muhammadu Buhari of his desire to run for president in 2023.

According to this online daily, Bola Tinubu announced this on Monday after meeting with Buhari at the Aso Villa in Abuja and briefing State House correspondents.

According to him, because the President is a democrat, he has not been asked to give up his lifelong ambition.

Tinubu said,

“I have informed the President of my intention but I’ve not informed Nigerians yet. I am still consulting and I have no problem consulting and I have not set a parameter of limitation to the extent of how many people will I consult. You will soon hear all you want to hear; it is a categorical declaration. You’ve gotten that truth from me that I have informed Mr President of my ambition.”

The former governor of Lagos State stated that he has the confidence, vision, and ability to build on Buhari’s foundation in order to turn the country’s fortunes around.

In 2021, the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, told Touchaheart Nigeria that Tinubu will announce whether or not he would run for President in January 2022.

Posters and billboards promoting Tinubu’s presidential quest, which he ran from May 1999 to May 2007, have recently been seen in major cities including as Lagos and Abuja.

In October 2021, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu launched the South-West Agenda 2023, a political movement aimed at rallying support for Tinubu’s presidential bid in 2023.

Tinubu, who turned 69 in March 2021 and has a sizable political following, has been said to be eyeing a presidential run in 2023, even as political discussions over a southern president intensify following Buhari’s eight-year presidency in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.

Between July and October 2021, when Tinubu was in the United Kingdom for knee surgery and physiotherapy, over 50 lawmakers visited him at his London house, including the President, six governors, scores of senators, and members of the House of Representatives.

The Northern Caucus of the House of Representatives, led by Deputy Speaker Ahmed Idris Wase, paid Tinubu a get-well visit in London in October 2021 and pledged support for his reported presidential bid in 2023.
