After FG, India Is Nigeria’s Largest Employer Of Labor – Envoy Of India

According to the Indian government, India is Nigeria’s second-largest employer after the Federal Government.

On Wednesday, January 26, the Acting High Commissioner of India to Nigeria, Velagaleti Surendra, declared this while leading an envoy to Abuja to commemorate India’s 73rd Republic Day.

Nigeria is India’s top trading partner in the African continent, according to the Indian envoy.

Surendra further stated that Indian investments are widespread in Nigeria, citing the presence of over 135 Indian enterprises in the country.

‘They are, after the Federal Government, the largest employers in Nigeria, and this is a platform to promote them and give them greater attention with the Nigerian people, as well as to encourage both partners to engage more fiercely with each other,’ Surendra said.

Surendra also revealed that trade between Nigeria and India had increased by 70% since the outbreak.

‘So, during the epidemic, it was just $8.99 billion, and now it’s back at almost $13 billion,’ says the expert. Surendra continued.

India is also exploring collaborating with Nigeria in the field of renewable energy, according to the envoy.

‘As a result, we believe that renewable energy represents a significant growth opportunity for both countries.’

‘And, of course, in other sectors, such as health, such as the establishment of hospitals here, and education, such as the establishment of Indian institutes of technology centers in Nigeria,’ the Indian envoy added.
