Train tickets In Lagos Are Expected To Cost Between N200 And N300 Each Trip – Governor Sanwo -Olu
Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has guaranteed citizens of the state that train journeys will be reasonable and accessible once the government’s red line rail project is completed.
On Friday, January 28, Governor Sanwo-Olu offered the guarantee during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.
“We believe the cost will be greatly reduced for citizens (residents),” the governor stated. It won’t be in the thousands, and it certainly won’t be close to that. So you’ll still be paying N200 to N300 every trip, and that’s what we’re looking at.”
“I don’t believe they’ll be breaking their bank.” It will, I guarantee you, be very affordable and accessible… The fare structure will be decided by where you join and exit, although it will typically be a little more than what you are now paying on your regular BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) routes.
“Affordability is crucial for people to want to make it a better alternative, so it must be available.” Yes, you can say it’s faster now; instead of spending an hour on the road, it’ll take you 20 to 25 minutes,” the governor continued.
This comes just a week after the state government revealed that it had purchased two new Talgo 330kmph trains for its Red Line rail project, as part of its attempts to improve management and transportation.
On an occasion conducted within the Milwaukee facilities of Spanish train maker Talgo Incorporated in the United States on January 18, the governor completed the acquisition transaction for the two new high-speed trains.
