Deji Sotana, a young Irish-Nigerian player and former Manchester United winger, is expected to join Brentford from Nice in the Premier League.
For the Republic of Ireland youth international, who is due for a physical today, the deal is likely to be a loan with obligation.
During his time with Manchester United’s academy, Sotona was regarded as one of the club’s fastest players, and he impressed Brentford staff during a recent training session with the Bees.
He will link up with former United academy teammate Max Haygarth who joined Brentford last year after a trial.
In 15 U18 Premier League games for Man United in the 2019-20 season, the young player scored four goals and added two assists. In September 2020, he moved to Nice, a Ligue 1 club.
Sotona, who was born in Ireland to Nigerian parents, has played for the Republic of Ireland till the age of sixteen. He is still eligible to play for the Nigerian national team.
