Atedo Peterside Commends President Buhari For Signing The Electoral Amendment Act for 2021

President and Founder of Anap Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting good governance, Mr. Atedo Peterside, has praised President Muhammadu Buhari for signing the long-awaited Electoral Amendment Act of 2021.

A crucial provision for INEC’s electronic transmission of results is included in the Electoral Amendment Act, which is a modernized copy of the 2010 Electoral Act.

In a tweet today, Peterside stated “Thank you, President Muhammadu Buhari, for signing into law an Electoral Act that constitutes a significant improvement over previous legislation.

He said the action is a huge compliment to President Buhari, who has proved that the nation’s greatest interests should always come first.

In recent weeks, the Electoral Act has been at the forefront of political debate in the country.

In addition, as part of his contribution to good governance, the learned entrepreneur, economist, and investment banker has founded a Movement that is launching an information campaign to increase youth involvement in the country’s political process.

The GoNigeria Movement is a significant Anap Foundation program. GoNigeria is swiftly gaining traction in its objective to ensure that young Nigerians who are eligible to vote register en masse for voter cards and vote for the candidates of their choice in the 2023 General Elections.

The GoNigeria Movement began with 18 Initial Advocates from each of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones (3 from each zone). GoNigeria aims to work closely with Go Ambassadors, who would be celebrities and other influencers.

There will also be GoPartners, which will be business entities interested in exploring co-branding opportunities with GoNigeria. Several young people have also joined the GoNigeria Movement as GoVolunteers to help spread the word to other young people.

Atedo Peterside went on to say that the youth enlightenment campaign is one of the most effective ways of combating voter apathy, and he encouraged young Nigerians to visit the GoNigeria website, www.GoNigeria.com, for more information on how the Movement is encouraging young Nigerians to fulfill their civic responsibilities. Nigerians aged 18 to 34 make up the majority of the population, as they are by far the largest voting bloc by age group.

He advised young people to go to the INEC website to register or request updates to their voter information, and then to finish the procedure in person (including biometrics) at specified centers by the Commission’s June 2022 deadline.

They should then obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards in preparation for the 2023 General Elections, where they will have a big impact on the outcome.

He emphasized that the Nigeria that the youths deserve and desire can never be realized unless they become the majority voting force in all future elections.
