Abba Kyari’s Wife Slumps In Court, Tensions Rise
In court, a woman who has been identified as the wife of suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP, Abba Kyari, has fainted.
Abba Kyari’s wife fainted before the Federal High Court in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Monday, March 14, 2022, according to this online news outlet.
Abba Kyari’s wife collapsed to the ground shortly after trial Justice Emeka Nwite deferred a decision on applications submitted by DCP Kyari and six other people charged with drug trafficking to be released on bail until the outcome of the case.
While armed officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, were escorting Kyari and the others out from the court premises, Abba Kyari’s wife, a middle-aged woman wearing a black Hijab, fell to the floor.
Despite the fact that Abba Kyari’s wife appeared motionless on the floor, she was promptly hauled up and hustled into one of the court’s third-floor offices by NDLEA personnel and attorneys.
Even though one of the women who accompanied her to court intimated that she was asthmatic, efforts were on to get an inhaler for her at the time of reporting this story, 11:38 a.m.
The NDLEA had asked the court on Monday to refuse Kyari and the other defendants bail. It warned the court that if Kyari, who previously led the Police Intelligence Response Team, IRT, was released from detention, he would flee the country and be unavailable for trial.
