The Nigerian government, led by President Muhammadu Buhari, has approved N92.123 billion for the construction of a second runway at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
Touchaheart Nigeria gathered that the money was agreed on Wednesday (today) during Buhari’s weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, told state house reporters shortly after the meeting at the presidential villa in Abuja that the total amount would be shared over a number of projects at the airport.
The hefty cost was approved just one day after a new terminal building at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) was inaugurated.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressed optimism in securing the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential ticket for 2023 and winning the presidency in the general election.
Atiku voiced his hope and confidence on Wednesday at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, when he officially confirmed my interest in running for president in 2023.
He claims that he possesses all of the attributes that Nigeria requires in a leader and that he is willing to serve as the country’s next President.
Atiku claimed that he knows what Nigeria needs to be fixed and that he is prepared to be a President who understands and inspires.
While describing Nigeria as a land of opportunities, the former Vice President disclosed that he has consistently been contesting for presidency because of a passion to “rekindle the Nigerian dream.”
Mai Mala Buni, the All Progressives Congress’s Caretaker Chairman and Governor of Yobe State, has refuted allegations of renewed disputes among governors elected on the party’s platform.
The Progressive Governors Forum, according to Buni, is at peace as a result of President Muhammadu Buhari’s direction.
Buni accused some persons of attempting to foment a schism among the party’s chieftains in a statement delivered through his spokesman on Wednesday.
He went on to say that this individual has plans to start an uninvited crisis only days before the party’s national convention.

The House of Representatives announced on Wednesday that it intends to challenge the Federal High Court’s verdict in Umuahia, requesting that the Attorney General of the Federation remove section 84 (12) from the recently signed electoral act amendment bill.

Both the APC and the Muhammadu Buhari administration are disappointed and plagued by their own failings, according to the report.

Malami told reporters after the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday that the process was still on.
The Minister noted that required efforts must be made to guarantee that the court order is followed, and that, at the end of the day, everything must be done in line with the law.
The section reads: “No political appointee at any level shall be a voting delegate or be voted for at the convention or congress of any political party for the purpose of the nomination of candidates for any election.”
President Muhammadu Buhari wrote lawmakers after signing the bill, requesting that the part be removed since it violated the Constitution and violated the rights of government appointees, but the National Assembly members refused.

8. 2023 Presidency: Ikpeazu Hosts PDP Governors In Abia
Governors elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform met behind closed doors in Abia State on Wednesday.
The governors were welcomed by their colleague, Okezie Ikpeazu, at his country residence in Umuobiakwa, Obingwa local government area, according to Truetells Nigeria.
According to reports, zoning and the presidency of 2023 would be at the top of the governors’ agenda.
Nyesom Wike (Rivers); Seyi Makinde (Oyo); Samuel Ortom (Benue); and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Benue) were all present at the meeting (Enugu).

The aforementioned governors were supposed to have arrived yesterday, according to party officials (Tuesday).
The extradition hearing for suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari has been postponed until April 27.
After the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), failed to serve Kyari with the extradition application, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja delayed the hearing.
Remember that the minister had requested Kyari’s extradition after the US government made a request in a multi-million dollar fraud case involving alleged fraudster Ramon Abba, alias Hushpuppi.
Malami told State House reporters that the application was still being processed after the Federal Executive Council meeting last week Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Kyari’s lawyer, Nureini Jimoh (SAN), informed the court that the AGF had not served his client with the extradition application that had been filed.
Pius Akutah, Counsel to the AGF and Head of the Federal Ministry of Justice’s Central Authority Unit (CAU), confirmed that the applicant has yet to serve the respondent.

After being jailed for 150 days by Nigerian police before being prosecuted in court, the 21-year-old was released on Wednesday.
On June 17, 2021, Okolie was apprehended by members of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team in Imo State.
Okolie had been held for months by the Nigeria Police Force’s IRT squad on suspicion of spying for IPOB.
On November 23, 2021, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted Okolie bail in the sum of N10 million with two sureties.
In his judgement, Justice Taiwo Taiwo granted her bail with two sureties, one of whom must be a level-14 civil servant and the other must own landed property and have lived at the current residence for at least two years.
While reacting to the release conditions, Okolie’s lawyer, Ihensekhien Samuel, praised the judge for admitting her to bail despite the strict requirements, saying that they would file for a change in due course.
Okolie and her co-defendant were held at the Suleja Correctional Centre until their bail terms were met.
