EFCC Arrests Cubana Chief Priest For Fraud
Touchaheart has learned that Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has detained Nigerian socialite Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest.
Officials familiar with the situation told this online news site that Cubana Chief Priest was detained by the EFCC on charges of money laundering and tax fraud.
Touchaheart Nigeria gathered reports that on Peoples Gazette, Cubana Chief Priest, an ally of Obi Cubana, was arrested at the Lagos airport on Thursday, but anti-graft officials kept quiet about the arrest due to pressure from his associates and family, who said the matter could complicate conditions for others likely involved in the alleged racket.
According to the article, Cubana Chief Priest’s detention by the EFCC has made it impossible for him to respond to birthday congratulations from his over four million Instagram followers, as only his wife is allowed to see him in custody.
As of Saturday night, it was unclear when he would be allowed bail or how much information officials had been able to extract from him.
“The matter is still under investigation,” a source said anonymously about Cubana Chief Priest who has gained national acclaim as an ambassador for many national brands, including Bullet.
The arrest of Cubana Chief Priest comes just weeks after the arrest of another socialite, Obi Cubana, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), a Nigerian law enforcement agency under the Federal Ministry of Justice tasked with combating the growing, processing, manufacturing, selling, exporting, and trafficking of hard drugs.
Meanwhile, Touchaheart Nigeria says that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has yet to publish a comment regarding Cubana Chief Priest’s arrest as of the time of filing this story.
