Godwin Emefiele Is A Registered Member Of APC

Godwin Emefiele, CBN

The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, is a registered member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to Nduka Erikpume, a party leader.

Mr. Erikpume, the chairman of the APC Ward 6 in Delta State’s Ika South Local Government Area, claimed this in a phone conversation with The Punch on Sunday.

Mr Erikpume stated that the CBN governor joined the APC in February 2022.

According to him, “Yes, he has registered since February 2021. He is our member.”

This comes as Emefiele’s alleged political participation continues to draw harsh criticism, with renowned attorneys and other prominent Nigerians asking for his resignation immediately.

Emefiele’s continued tenure as CBN governor, according to senior attorneys and politicians, is detrimental to the economy.

The CBN governor had gone to a Federal High Court in Abuja to seek a constitutional interpretation on his non-resignation while pursuing his political interests, despite public condemnation of his claimed presidential aspiration.

According to sources, the CBN governor has contacted Dr. Mike Ozekhome (SAN), a constitutional lawyer and human rights activist, for an interpretation of the constitution and public service norms regarding public workers seeking elective posts while in office.

A highly placed source in the CBN said that the case had been scheduled for today (Monday).

He said, “Emefiele has just briefed Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) as his lawyer. He has just filed a case in court and is coming up tomorrow (today, Monday).”

Several efforts to get the reliefs being sought by Emefiele from the source proved abortive
