Militants From Cameroon Invade Nigeria, Killing 20 People
Militants from Cameroon have invaded Nigeria, killing at least 20 people.
Touchaheart Nigeria reports that the twenty (20) Cameroonians have been killed by Cameroonian Militants, also known as Ambazonian soldiers, who are fighting for independence in Southwest Cameroon.
According to eyewitnesses in Boki village in Nigeria, Cameroonian Militants crossed into the Nigerian hamlet near Bashu in Boki LGA of Cross River State to attack fellow compatriots who fled and refused to join them in intensifying the battle against President Paul Biya’s government.
Chief Cletus Obun, a former member of the Cross River House of Assembly and a House of Representatives hopeful for the Boki/Ikom federal seat, verified the occurrence.
“I can confirm that the Ambazonian soldiers crossed the Nigerian border Sunday morning to attack their compatriots who fled into Nigeria and refused to join their forces to fight. They killed nearly 20. No one is sure yet if, amongst those killed, there are Nigerian citizens.”
The surviving Cameroonians in the community, who also speak the Bokye language of the Nigerian Boki people, have now swarmed Bashu community, which is not far from Danare community, where Nigerian troops maintain a tiny camp, according to Chief Obun.
Meanwhile, Touchaheart reports that the Captain Tope Aluko, the Public Relations Officer of the 13th Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Calabar, said she called their Officer Operations, who indicated they had not received such a complaint.
