APC PRIMARIES: 10 APC Presidential Candidates Have Been Disqualified
A total of ten APC presidential candidates have been disqualified from the party’s primaries.
Touchaheart Nigeria reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening panel has banned ten (10) of the twenty-three (23) presidential candidates from participation in the ruling party’s extraordinary convention to choose a standard-bearer ahead of the 2023 election
This online news platform reports that the screening panel’s head, John Oyegun, stated this on Friday, June 3, 2022, when presenting a report to APC national chairman Abdullahi Adamu.
“First, we have 23 aspirants that we interacted with and my first comment is that we are indeed a lucky party. The point I want to make is the quality of the people that want to govern this country,” Oyegun said.
“We are a governing party and so the ability to lead, the background, experience… it is on the basis that we made a shortlist. I won’t want to read the names, I’d leave that to you, but we brought the number down to 13.
“We could have cut it a little shorter but we wanted the younger elements to surface.”
Meanwhile, Touchaheart Nigeria reports that the names of the presidential candidates who did not make the cut for the APC primaries for the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria are unknown.
The APC’s spokesman, Felix Morka, had previously stated that 28 presidential forms had been purchased, but that three people — Chris Ngige, the minister of labor; Timipre Sylva, the minister of state for petroleum; and Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) — had failed to submit theirs.
