7 People Dies In A Road Accident In Ekiti

In a horrifying collision involving two automobiles in Ekiti State, no fewer than seven people perished.

The head-on collision between the 18-passenger bus and the Toyota automobile, which happened on Wednesday night along the Iluomoba-Aisegba route, resulted in the deaths of the seven victims.

On Thursday, an eyewitness told journalists in Ado Ekiti that one of the cars was attempting to avoid a pothole when it reportedly lost control, hit the approaching car heading into Ado Ekiti, and sustained serious injuries.

Initially, it was reported that the collision claimed the lives of roughly 19 people, but the Federal Road Safety Corps has since debunked this claim (FRSC).

The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ekiti State, Mr. Olusola Joseph, confirmed the occurrence and denied that 19 people had been killed, revealing that there were actually 17 people in the two vehicles.

The Sector Commander made it clear that seven passengers died, and that the bodies had been taken to the mortuary.

The FRSC boss said: “Those who lost their lives had been deposited in the mortuary. They were all male passengers. They were occupants of the two vehicles.

“The passengers that suffered varying degrees of injuries are presently being treated at the Afe Babalola Multisysstem hospital in Ado Ekiti”.

Joseph warned motorists against overspeeding, which he described as the reason for unwarranted carnages on Nigerian roads, by strictly observing traffic safety rules and regulations.
