Liverpool vs Everton: Will Lampard Go Back To The Job Market

As the Premier League enters its sixth year this week, struggling Everton will host Liverpool at Goodison Park for the opening match of the weekend.

Following a 9-0 thrashing of Bournemouth, which primarily resulted in Scott Parker losing his job, and a 2-1 victory against Newcastle, Jurgen Klopp’s team appeared to have rediscovered their stride following disappointing performances in their first three games.

Everton’s situation isn’t any better either, as the loss of three out of a possible fifteen points puts Frank Lampard’s job in jeopardy. If Everton loses scandalously by the time referee Anthony Taylor blows the final whistle, Lampard might as well join Parker in the job market. Their most recent game against Leeds United concluded in a 1-1 road draw.

In their previous five matches, Liverpool has won twice, Everton once, and they have split the points twice.

After serving out his ban, Nunez is back for the Reds as Klopp makes three alterations to the team that overcame Newcastle. Nunez starts ahead of Firmino, Konstantinos Tsimikas replaces Konstantinos Tsimikas, and Fábio Carvalho takes the place of Jordan Henderson, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Alex Iwobi who has been consistent retains a starting spot while Neal Maupay makes his debut since he joined the Toffees from Brighton and replaces Dwight McNeil.
