Charles III Swears Allegiance And Becomes King
At a lengthy ceremony on Saturday at St. James’ Palace in London, Charles III took an oath and was formally crowned.
The Accession Council made a formal announcement about his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Charles III was subsequently proclaimed king.
Before the paperwork were signed, the 200 or so persons present in the chamber collectively prayed, “God save the King.”
According to the BBC, flags that were lowered in honor of the late Queen will briefly fly at full mast.
Recall that yesterday, the King pledged to follow his “darling mama’s” life of service in his first address to the nation.
The Queen, the UK’s longest-reigning monarch, died peacefully at Balmoral Castle on Thursday afternoon at the age of 96.
