Address At The 77th UN General Assembly By Buhari

On Sunday, President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to leave Abuja to attend the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA77).

His media assistant, Mr. Femi Adesina, announced in Abuja on Saturday that he would speak at the UNGA on September 21.

“Aside his National Statement, the president will also participate in high-level meetings and side events including the Nigeria International Economic Partnership Forum (NIEPF),’’ he stated.

Nigeria and the Business Council for International Understanding collaborate to host the forum.

The president would also take part in the EFCC-NEPAD program to combat illegal financial flows, Adesina noted.

“President Buhari will also hold strategic bilateral meetings with world leaders, renowned investors, and heads of multinational organisations while in New York,’’ he added.

The theme for the 77th session which opened on Tuesday, Sept. 13 is: “A watershed moment: Transformative solutions to interlocking challenges.”

The conflict in Ukraine, the global energy crisis, climate change, and containing the COVID-19 pandemic are among the major issues that will be covered during this year’s UNGA.

Additionally, the UNGA will host a special meeting on reforming education.

Aisha, the president’s wife, is accompanied by several governors, ministers, and other government officials.

The president is anticipated to return to the nation on Monday, September 26.
