Ukraine: Finland To Block Russian Tourists From Entering The Country
As the conflict between Russia and Ukraine intensifies, Finland has announced its decision to block Russian visitors from entering the country beginning at midnight on Friday.
The proposed development is anticipated to result in a significant decrease in cross-border traffic, thus the Finnish government disclosed it on Thursday.
According to Reuters, Finland’s Foreign Minister, Pekka Haavisto, stated at a news conference that the country’s relations with other countries are now seen as being threatened by the flood of Russians.
Haavisto reassured that admission for job and school purposes, as well as for family visits, will still be allowed.
The Finnish government, cautious of being a passage nation into western Europe’s passport-free Schengen zone, on Friday said it planned to close tourism from Russia and that a decision would be finalized in the days that followed.
The war between Russia and Ukraine has been a major concern to the West and other nations of the world as President Vladimir Putin threatened nuclear war.
