STRIKE SUSPENSION: ASUU To Hold Urgent Meeting
On Thursday, October 13, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), which is currently on strike, will call an urgent National Executive Council (NEC) meeting to assess recent developments, particularly the federal government’s accommodating response to its demands.
Prior to the meeting, the union’s leadership urged its zonal branches to compile member opinions through ballots and report the results at the meeting, which would take place in Abuja on Thursday. The strike would end late on Thursday or early on Friday depending on the results of the meeting on Thursday.
The leadership of the union held a meeting with the leadership of the House of Representatives on Monday, September 10, and hinted at calling off the eight-month old strike in the coming days.
