We never refused Labour Party a place to hold rally- Delta Govt
Contrary to online allegations, the Delta Government claims it never refused the Labour Party a location for a rally during their presidential campaign in the state.
The party never made an official request for a venue, according to a statement released on Sunday by the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu.
He claimed that a party agent only called him on Sunday morning (8/1/2023) and demanded that he use the Asaba Arcade.
The Oshimili South Local Government Council was contacted by the state government within three minutes, who then secured a waiver of all formalities and made the Arcade Asaba available for the Labour party to conduct its presidential rally.
Aniagwu added that the state kindly waived the venue fee in order to show its democratic credentials and tolerance for opposition.
He asked the party to conduct its rally calmly, following the established guidelines.
