Gunmen Razes 5 Houses In Imo State, Kills One Woman
In the early hours of Tuesday, Gunmen razed the home of Emeka Okoronkwo, the Imo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports.
The country home of Nnamdi Obiaraeri, a former dean of the law school at Imo State University in Owerri who served as commissioner for information, youth and sports, as well as land and urban planning, respectively, under the administrations of former governors Ikedi Ohakim and Rochas Okorocha, was also destroyed.
Also, Emeka Ngwu, a retired director of the Department of Security Service country home was burned down.
According to PUNCH, the old woman who was in Ngwu’s house died in the fire.
Two houses belonging to two other prominent sons of the area whose identities are yet to be ascertained were also burnt.
The incident happened at Amagu Ihube community in the Okigwe Local Government Area of the state.
Okoronkwo confirmed the burning of his house when our correspondent contacted him.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Henry Okoye, confirmed the attack and told our correspondent that an investigation had started in other to arrest the fleeing suspects.
Ihube has recently become the hotbed of criminal activities with the country homes of the candidate of the Labour Party for Okigwe Local Government Area, Nnaemeka Obiaraeri; and the Director General of the campaign organisation of the LP’s House of Representatives candidate, Okey Unam, burnt.
