JUST IN: Labour Party Chairman Dies On 2023 Presidential Election Day

Touchaheart Nigeria reports that the Labour Party (LP) chairman in the Karshi district of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Valentine Onuigbo is dead.

 

Family members discovered the Labour Party Chairman dead in his bed in the early hours of today, Saturday, February 25, 2023, the day of the 2023 presidential election, according to sources.

 

The Labour Party Chairman presided over the party’s pre-election operations up until late Friday, February 24, 2023, and was claimed to be enthusiastically anticipating the start of voting on Saturday when he passed away. His remains have been placed at the national capital’s Asokoro Hospital mortuary.

 

In other note, Touchaheart reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced the 2023 general elections at exactly 8:30 am amid tight security on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

 

The list of candidates for the four hundred and sixty-nine (469) federal legislative slots in the National Assembly and the eighteen (18) contenders for the presidency is available to Nigerians.

 

There will be no less than eighteen (18) political parties running in the general elections of 2023, albeit some of them will not be fielding presidential candidates. 91 political parties took part in the 2019 general elections, which is fewer than this number.

 

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) most recent statistics, there are currently 93,469,008 registered voters. However, 87,209,007 of those voters have gathered their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and will be expected to vote in the general elections of 2023 as opposed to 84,004,084 in the general elections of 2019.

 

The All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and, of course, the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) are the main political groups in contention.

 

The incumbent APC’s presidential candidate is Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while the PDP’s Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the LP’s Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, and the NNPP’s Rabiu Kwankwaso are also running.

 

Several candidates have emerged as front-runners for the presidency in the run-up to the elections, including Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the main opposition party in Nigeria, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP).
