Nigeria reports that Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state has lost his seat to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Dauda Lawal.
Lawn Dare received 377,726 votes overall, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, making him the governor-elect.
He defeated All Progressives Congress candidate Matawalle, who received 311,976 votes.
In the wee hours of Tuesday, Lawal was announced the victor in Gusau, the state capital.
Prof. Kassimu Shehu, the INEC returnking officer, declared,
”I hereby certify that I am the INEC returning officer for Zamfara State. I am Professor Kassimu Shehu of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State”.
That PDP candidate Dr. Lawal Dauda be proclaimed the winner and re-elected after meeting all legal prerequisites.
