Lawan urges prayers for peaceful transition of power

touchaheart Nigeria reports that in order to ensure a smooth transfer of power at the national and local levels in the upcoming months, Ahmad Lawan, the president of the Senate, has asked Muslims in Nigeria to pray throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

The opportunity to pray for the success of the incoming federal and state governments as they take on the difficult duties of continuing the construction of a virtuous and wealthy Nigeria, Lawan said in his goodwill message on Wednesday, came with the Ramadan month.

He said,

Ramadan is a great occasion for the Islamic faithful to thank Allah for His mercies on us as people and as a country and to further seek His guidance and blessings.

This Ramadan period has come to us in Nigeria at a crucial time. The fact that it coincides with our political shift does not, in my opinion, represent a mere coincidence.

Let’s take advantage of the occasion to express our gratitude to Almighty Allah for the victories we have thus far experienced in the conduct of the general elections and to ask for his help in praying for a peaceful transfer of power at the national and sub-national levels in the coming weeks.

The Senate President continued, saying that as a nation, Nigeria had achieved some positive strides in its political journey and was still learning how to deal with “the normal obstacles that those who had traveled further than we had on the road had also encountered. We have many grounds to give Allah praise as a result of this.

Following that, Lawan gave the following advice: “Equally, we should use the month of Ramadan to pray for the success of the incoming governments at the federal and state levels as they will take on the difficult duties of continuing the construction of a virile and successful Nigeria.

We should also ask God to guide the new 10th National Assembly so that they can effectively carry out their duties to provide good government in Nigeria.
