The Labour Party (LP) surprised Nigerians with the number of votes it received across the country in the recently concluded general elections.

The party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stunned the political scene with the number of votes he received, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to INEC, the former Anambra State governor finished third in the election, trailing Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar.

A declaration that the LP presidential candidate has challenged, prompt ing him to file an appeal with the tribunal.

The LP did not stop there, as the party’s governorship candidate in Abia State, Alex Otti, was declared governor-elect by INEC on Wednesday.

Otti’s victory in Abia State marks the first time that a party other than the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has led the state since 1999.

Legislative Positions

In the recently concluded federal legislative elections, the LP won eight senatorial seats and thirty-four House of Representatives seats, making it the third most popular party in the 10th National Assembly.

Meanwhile, supplementary elections will be held in 46 constituencies, with the possibility of the LP gaining more seats.
