Again, Russia Launches Drone Attack On Ukraine

 

touchaheart Nigeria reports that early on Wednesday, a Russian drone attacked Odesa, a port city in southern Ukraine, although no initial reports of casualties were made, according to authorities.

Yuriy Kruk, the chief of the Odesa district military administration, sent a statement on Telegram stating that “the enemy carried out an attack by UAVs of the Shahed-136 type on the Odesa region at night.

 

According to Kruk, Ukraine’s air defenses destroyed the majority of the drones that were striking, but some civilian infrastructure was struck.

 

There were no casualties, according to preliminary reports. The fire is being contained, and workers from the State Emergency Service and other organizations are onsite.

 

The Shahed-136 is a tiny self-detonating drone produced in Iran that can be set up to automatically fly to a certain set of GPS coordinates with a payload of explosives.

 

International sanctions have hurt the drone sector in Russia, and since the war began, several drones have been shot down, leading Moscow to purchase drones from Iran.

 

Before Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered soldiers into Ukraine in February of last year, many Ukrainians and Russians made Odesa their preferred vacation spot.

 

Odesa has been bombed by Russian forces many times since the invasion began. Additionally, it suffered some damage from a drone attack two weeks ago.

 

Odessa’s historic center was listed as a World Heritage in Danger site by the United Nations cultural organization UNESCO in January.
