Kudus takes over as Lagos RTEAN chairman as court kicks MC Oluomo Out

RTEAN

The Lagos branch of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria nominated Aransiola Kudus as the interim chairman, following a court decision.

A 25-member park management committee headed by Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, commonly known as MC Oluomo, was established earlier by the Lagos state government to oversee all of the state’s garages and motor parks. The state had already banned RTEAN activities there and disbanded its elected leadership. In a verdict issued on April 18, the National Industrial Court of Nigeria overturned the government’s decision and upheld RTEAN’s right to conduct business in Lagos State.

Following this court’s ruling, the Executive National President of RTEAN, Dr. Musa Muhammed Maitakobi, appointed Aransiola Kudus, the Deputy Chairman (Admin), as the acting Chairman of Lagos in accordance with Article 7:2ii(a) of RTEAN’s constitution during the trade union’s National Executive Council meeting held in Abuja.
