Presidents of Ghana, Ethiopia, and South Africa are on the ground for the ceremony as Buhari bids his colleagues farewell, from Abuja, Johnbosco Agbakwuru.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, assured Nigerians on Sunday night that because he applied for the position, he would fulfil his commitments and live up to expectations.

The incoming president promised to put Nigeria back on the path of development despite the country’s poverty and inconsistent policymaking.

Asiwaju Tinubu gave a speech during the Inaugural Dinner/Gala Night at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, which was hosted by the Presidential Transition Council (PTC).

There are numerous problems facing the nation, such as corruption, poverty, and inconsistent policies, but according to him, none of these will be an excuse for failure on the part of his administration.

He said, “To the numerous Heads of State in this room, our brothers and sisters, joining us in celebration, I thank you, but I want to state plainly for us to take away, what lessons has Nigeria democracy taught the rest of Africa, if not the entire world.

“Resilience, tenacity, bravery, and love in diversity, despite the differences between our tongues and tribes. My predecessor is travelling to Daura, which is close to the Niger border, by tomorrow afternoon, but I have assured him that he will still receive a tap at the door. A man will be able to see the sky regardless of height. I’ll still know where to look for him if I need assistance.

“This is a nation that has experienced many setbacks yet never collapsed. We may squeak like an old mother’s automobile, but we never disintegrate. Simply put, we are a unique nation.

“Don’t feel sorry for me, I asked for the fight against corruption, poverty, inconsistent policies, and many other issues facing us I ran for the position, thus I have no justification for failing to fulfil my obligations. I swear to you,” he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who is leaving office, greeted the dignitaries who had come to honour Nigeria in his speech and emphasised the success the nation had just had with the election that produced the new set of leaders.

He claimed that the Nigerian voters had regained power as a result of the electoral process.

I applaud fellow Nigerians who have understood their influence and that their votes matter, he remarked. I can’t wait to travel to my base tomorrow and return to my cows and sheep, which are much easier to manage than my fellow Nigerians.

He addressed the assembled heads of state and government as well as their representatives, saying, “Your Excellencies, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, I thank you very much and bid you farewell and wish us the best of luck.”

Aisha Buhari, the First Lady, earlier unveiled the book “Renewed hope, Greater united” alongside Senator Remi Tinubu, the First Lady-elect, Kashim Shettima, and his wife.

The Presidents of South Africa, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Burundi, Liberia, the Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, the Central African Republic, Gabon, the Prime Minister of Morocco, the Vice President of Venezuela, and many others were present at the vibrant event.
