Touchaheart Nigeria reports on the signing of the French Marcus Thuram to the Serie A team, Inter Milan.
Marcus Thuram, a striker for France’s national team, joined Inter Milan on a free transfer on Saturday, the Serie A team reported. The 25-year-old signed a five-year contract with the Champions League champions from last season worth an estimated 6.5 million euros ($7.1 million) per season.
Marcus Thuram is the son of 1998 World Cup champion Lilian Thuram. His best season, in which he scored 13 goals for Bundesliga club Borussia Moenchengladbach, helped Inter land his services; at the end of the season, he was a free agent.

“Marcus Thuram signs for Inter,” read a statement on the club’s website. “The forward, who was born in 1997, joins the Nerazzurri following four seasons with Borussia Moenchengladbach.”
Thuram has chosen to represent his birth country instead of Paris Saint-Germain, and as a result, Marcus will join Lautaro Martinez in the forward position. This decision comes after the departure of veteran Edin Dzeko, who recently signed with Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce.
Marcus Thuram was born in Parma, where his father spent five seasons playing football. In 1999, the team, which also included Gianluigi Buffon and Fabio Cannavaro, won the UEFA Cup and the Italian Cup.
At the 2006 World Cup, Buffon and Cannavaro defeated Thuram Sr., helping Italy defeat France on penalties in the championship game.

Thuram junior experienced a heartbreaking defeat in the World Cup final last December against Argentina, led by Martinez. France, despite being 2-0 down at half-time, fought back in a thrilling match that ended in a 3-3 draw. They ultimately lost on penalties, but Thuram, who had represented his country ten times, played a crucial role in setting up the equalizing goal that forced the game into extra time.
In the upcoming season, Thuram might face competition from Romelu Lukaku for a spot in Inter’s starting lineup. Lukaku, the talented Belgian striker, is currently in talks to extend his stay in Milan, even though his loan spell from Chelsea is set to end this week.
