Havana syndrome: Report links mystery illness to Russia

In a significant development, a joint investigation by The Insider, Der Spiegel, and CBS’s 60 Minutes has shed light on the mysterious “Havana Syndrome” affecting US diplomats worldwide. The investigation suggests a possible connection between the illness and a Russian military intelligence unit, sparking controversy and concern.

As gathered from BBC, The “Havana Syndrome” has puzzled medical experts and government officials due to its symptoms like dizziness and severe ear pain. However, the recent report provides a potential breakthrough in understanding its cause.

According to the investigation, there’s evidence indicating that the illness might be linked to targeted attacks using sonic weapons orchestrated by a specific Russian military unit, known as 29155. This unit has been associated with other hostile activities, including the poisoning of a former Russian spy in the UK.

Greg Edgreen, an American military investigator involved in the probe, emphasized the significance of the Russian connection, stating, “There was some angle where they had worked against Russia, focused on Russia, and done extremely well.”

Touchaheart reports that despite the evidence, US officials have been cautious about blaming a foreign adversary for the illness. “It is very unlikely a foreign adversary is responsible,” officials reiterated. However, they stressed the need to investigate the health incidents reported by affected individuals.

This report has prompted mixed reactions from former officials. Some, like John Bolton, expressed concern over the government’s response, while others dismissed the report’s findings.

This revelation has reignited calls for a thorough investigation into the origins of the “Havana Syndrome” and raised questions about the US government’s handling of the situation. As diplomatic tensions rise, efforts to uncover the truth continue amidst uncertainty.
