Nnamdi Kanu orders total cancellation of Monday Sit-at-Home in South-East – IPOB
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced the permanent cancellation of the Monday sit-at-home directive across the South-East, effective Monday, February 9, 2026.
The directive comes directly from IPOB leader Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who emphasized that the people should return to schools, workplaces, and markets without fear or intimidation.
IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, stated that any attempt to enforce the sit-at-home from this point forward would be considered opposition to Kanu’s orders and the Biafran cause.
“All markets, schools, offices, transport services, and economic activities must resume fully and normally from tomorrow. The era of Monday sit-at-home is over,” the statement read.
IPOB also warned of possible false-flag operations or intimidation attempts by opponents and urged citizens to remain vigilant, calm, and law-abiding.
The group further clarified that no state governor has the authority to threaten or forcibly shut down the businesses of traders who may choose to observe personal discretion.
The statement stressed that any market renovations or relocations must involve stakeholder consent and provision of temporary trading sites before work begins.
IPOB called on all South-East residents to resume normal activities and ensure children return to school, reaffirming unity and the organization’s focus on freedom, dignity, and justice.
The announcement marks a significant shift in IPOB’s directives, ending a long-standing weekly shutdown that has impacted economic and social activities in the region.
