Lagos, Nigeria – Federal High Court Justice D.I. Dipeolu on Friday remanded social media influencer Okoro Blessing Nkiruka, known as Blessing CEO, in EFCC custody over allegations she defrauded a woman of N36 million.
The self-styled relationship therapist was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission at the Ikoyi court. She faces a two-count charge of obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.
According to the EFCC, Blessing CEO collected N36 million from complainant Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye between July 14 and 17, 2024. She allegedly claimed the funds were for leasing a six-bedroom duplex in Lekki, Lagos.
Prosecutors say the representation was false. They claim she converted the money for personal use. Her counsel told the court she has refunded N24 million and is working to repay the balance.
Blessing CEO pleaded not guilty to the charges. Her lawyer requested she remain in EFCC custody pending the hearing of her bail application. Justice Dipeolu granted the request.
“The matter has been adjourned till June 5, 2026, for the commencement of trial,” the court ruled.
The development has sparked widespread reactions online. Many Nigerians expressed surprise, given Blessing CEO’s large following and outspoken views on relationships and lifestyle matters. Her controversial persona often draws both support and criticism.
This case highlights the EFCC’s ongoing crackdown on financial crimes. Authorities continue to target individuals who exploit trust for personal gain, especially in high-value property deals in Lagos.
Blessing CEO rose to prominence through her bold advice on social media. She built a brand around relationship coaching and luxury living. Her arrest now casts a shadow over that public image.
The anti-graft agency says investigations remain active. Further details may emerge as the case progresses.
What Happens Next
The trial begins on June 5. Until then, Blessing CEO stays in EFCC custody. The outcome could significantly affect her public career and send a strong message about accountability in Nigeria’s influencer space.
