President Buhari Speaks To Super Eagles, Urging Them To Keep Winning

President Muhammadu Buhari gave the Super Eagles a pep talk on Sunday morning, January 23, before their second-round encounter against Tunisia in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The President chatted with Coach Augustine Eguavoen, Captain Ahmed Musa, Amaju Pinnick, President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), and Gen Abayomi Olonisakin, Nigerian Ambassador to Cameroon, via video conference from the Presidential Villa in Abuja (retd).

President Buhari urged the Super Eagles to continue making Nigerians happy, not only by winning the second-round match but also by lifting the trophy. He specifically mentioned two of the players, Kelechi Iheanacho and Moses Simon.

President Buhari;

“You’ve been a credit to Nigeria. You’ve been on a roll. Please continue to win. The federal government is behind you, and I want to express my gratitude to the entire technical team as well as the athletes. Please continue to make the country proud.”

The President praised Sunday Dare, the Hon Minister of Sports and Youth Development, for his efforts, noting that the country values them.

“We are excited that His Excellency, President Buhari, has come to speak with us this morning,” Coach Eguavoen responded. Thank you very much, sir, on behalf of the players and the technical crew.

“The group stage is over, and your being here is a lift to our spirits. Mr. President, we thank you for your support; we also thank the Hon. Minister and the NFF President. We are incredibly fortunate, and we want to assure you that you can rest assured that we will triumph. We will not let the country down.”

Ambassador Olonisakin said the over 4 million Nigerians living in Cameroon have been giving robust support to the Super Eagles since they arrived in Garoua, Cameroon, on January 5, “and they will continue to do so.”

Ahmed Musa, on behalf of the players, appreciated Mr… President, noting that it is not easy to speak with the leader of a country, and they count themselves privileged.

“Now that we have the blessings of the father of the nation, we shall make Nigeria proud,” he added.

The video chat was termed by NFF President Asaju Pinnick as “a precious privilege,” and he thanked President Buhari and the entire nation for their prayers and support.

Reno responded on his Instagram page.

“Oh, oh!” says the narrator. Why did the Nigeria Football Federation allow Buhari to interact with the Super Eagles players now? What’s the matter with NFF?

Do they remember what happened after he spoke with Anthony Joshua? Or how about our Eagles in the most recent AFCON? Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please Who has Buhari contacted, and who has won?

Our boys must concentrate. They don’t require any more distractions.

This nonsense must not repeat itself! If Buhari wants to call anybody, let him call Tinubu. Enough is enough! Akiba Madaba Olorun ma be a RI ”

Maduka Blamed For Super Eagles Lose By Angry Nigerians

Disappointed Nigerians descend on Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye’s Instagram page after Nigeria crashed out of AFCON 2021

Nigerians have reacted after the Super Eagles were eliminated from the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations following a 1 – 0 defeat by Tunisia in the Round of 16.

While some are blaming interim coach, Austin Eguavoen for the loss, others are dragging super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye for failing to stop the only goal of the match which was scored by Tunisia’s Youssef Msakni, in the 47th minute.

In my opinion, I strongly believe that Maduka was not the cause of their loss.

Just After Femi Otedola Promised Super Eagles Money, they lost. Isn’t it weird?

Super Eagles had a meeting with Sanwo-Olu yet nothing happened, they played fine but the reverse was the case with Mr. President Buhari.

Many Twitter users have termed Mr. President bad luck due to the same incident with Anthony Joshua.

According to Punch, when Anthony Joshua lost everyone blamed Buhari because he lost the match after he met with Buhari.

Nobody took this seriously though many were angry, not many saw this as something serious.

See Punch Statement;

“Nigerians take defeat badly. It was not surprising that many Nigerians blamed the heavyweight boxing match defeat Anthony Joshua suffered over the weekend to Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine on Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), President of Nigeria. The argument was that in January 2020 when Anthony Joshua presented his championship belts to Buhari, he unconsciously attracted some ill-luck to himself from the President.

Many said this in jest. Many said it in anger and frustration because of Buhari’s poor management of Nigeria. But many said it with seriousness and belief.”

After yesterday’s loss many are confused about what to believe, Is Buhari truly bad luck, or is this a superstitious belief.

Others are very convinced with this loss that he is truly “bad luck”.

Who knows really? Let’s know what you think too, leave your comments below and make sure to share.
