    Buhari Mourns Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe

    In the wake of Shinzo Abe’s horrific assassination, the President of Nigeria, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retired), sent a message of sorrow on Friday to the former Japanese prime minister’s family as well as to the government and people of Japan.

    Abe at 67, lost his life on Friday after being shot while giving a speech in Nara, Japan.

    Shinzo Abe will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to boosting trade and investment between Africa and Japan through a variety of initiatives and partnerships, using the instrumentality of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development, according to a statement released on Friday by his Special Adviser for Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

    According to the statement, titled ‘President Buhari commiserates with Japan on tragic death of former Prime Minister,’ Buhari joined “all Japanese in mourning the loss of the country’s longest-serving Prime Minister and outstanding leader.”
