Tragedy Strikes: Gunmen Target RCCG Pastor's Wife on Wukari-Jootar Highway

In a heartbreaking incident that has sent shockwaves through the nation, gunmen have once again struck, claiming the life of Mrs. Oluwakemi Moses Konye, the wife of a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) pastor in Taraba State.

Touchaheart Nigeria reports that the Taraba Youths Transformation Initiative (TYTI) brought this devastating news to light on Thursday, November 23, 2023, through a poignant Facebook post.

    The Incident

The attack unfolded along the Wukari-Jootar highway on November 17, 2023, as Mrs. Oluwakemi, accompanied by her two-month-old child, was on a journey from Akure to Taraba to reunite with her husband, Pastor Konye Timilehin Moses.

Despite the heavy presence of military and police checkpoints along this route, incidents like these persist unchallenged, as emphasized in TYTI’s statement signed by the group’s Executive Director, Emmanuel Yakubu.

    TYTI’s Plea for Action

The Taraba Youths Transformation Initiative urgently drew the attention of the Chief of Army Staff and the Inspector General of Police to the relentless attacks occurring along the Wukari-Jootar federal highway.

“These occurrences demand immediate action from the appropriate authorities.”

“We implore the military and the police to intervene urgently.”

“Additionally, we call upon Senator David S.U Jimkuta representing Taraba South at the National Assembly to use his influence to address this pressing issue.”

    Denouncement of Criminal Acts

“Today, Mrs. Oluwakemi leaves behind a two-month-old baby.”

“We vehemently condemn these criminal acts and urge swift action against these perpetrators.”

    Expressing Gratitude and Seeking Support

“TYTI extends gratitude to His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the executive governor of Taraba, for his efforts in enhancing security.”

“We appeal for further support and collaboration with the Army, and Air Force to safeguard the state.” – Emmanuel I. Yakubu, Executive Director, TYTI

    Confirmation from RCCG Pastor

In a separate report, the pain was palpable as RCCG Pastor Konye Timilehin Moses confirmed the tragic murder of his wife, Oluwakemi, in Taraba State.

Reposting TYTI’s statement on Wednesday, November 22, the pastor added a poignant caption: “Something must be done.”

A Glimpse into a Joyful Past

Adding to the heartbreak, the pastor had shared photos and videos of his wife leading a worship session just days before the unfortunate incident.

In a post dated November 12, he expressed his admiration, saying: “Greater grace unto you my dear wife. God of Adeboye has just begun a great thing with you.”

    “Unstoppable generation.”
