Delta State Acceptance Fee Reduction: Governor Oborevwori's Initiative

In a significant move aimed at alleviating the financial burden on students, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has granted a 25% reduction in acceptance fees for students entering the four state-owned universities.

Touchaheart Nigeria reports that this proactive decision, announced by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, comes as part of the state government’s measures to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal on its citizens.

A Helping Hand for Aspiring Scholars

The reduction in the acceptance fee applies to new students enrolling in the following state-owned universities:

    • Delta State University, Abraka
    • Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro
    • University of Delta, Agbor
    • Dennis Osadebay University, Anwai-Asaba

This reduction will undoubtedly come as a welcome relief to countless aspiring scholars and their families who have been grappling with rising educational expenses.

A Multifaceted Approach to Alleviating Hardship

Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to easing the financial burden on Delta State’s citizens extends beyond just students.

In a bid to support civil servants across the state, the governor has approved the payment of N10,000 to workers for three months, along with the disbursement of N5.522 billion to 50,196 workers as promotion arrears.

This comprehensive approach ensures that both students and civil servants benefit from the state’s palliative measures.

    Ensuring Uninterrupted Essential Services

To maintain the smooth functioning of essential services, the governor has implemented a three-working-day rotational scheme for civil servants on Salary Grade level 1-14.

Employees on Salary Grade Level 15 and above are granted flexibility to determine their work arrangements within their respective MDAs, thus ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of vital services to the public.

    Investing in Education

Recognizing the importance of education, Governor Oborevwori’s administration is also making strides in the education sector.

The state government has initiated the recruitment of 2,000 primary school teaching and non-teaching staff in 22 out of the 25 Local Government Areas in the State.

This endeavor seeks to enhance the quality of education in Delta State and provide employment opportunities for its citizens.

Aiding the Less Privileged and Vulnerable

In a compassionate gesture, the Delta State Government has allocated N10 billion, in addition to over 17,000 bags of rice and more than 64,000 bags of maize (all in 50kg bags), as palliatives for the less privileged, the poor, persons with disabilities, and the elderly in the society.

This commitment to social welfare demonstrates the government’s dedication to supporting those most in need during these challenging times.
