January 6, 2021 capitol hill insurgency were handled ‘unfairly,’ – Donald Trump

Former US president Donald Trump has said that his supporters who were imprisoned for the January 6, 2021 capitol hill insurgency were handled ‘unfairly,’ and that if he wins re-election in 2024, they will be pardoned from serving time in prison.

During a campaign-style event in Texas on Saturday evening, January 29, Trump hinted at a possible 2024 presidential run, claiming that his followers who stormed into the Capitol last year are being treated ‘unfairly’ by President Joe Biden.

‘If I run and win, we will treat those folks fairly beginning January 6.’ To thunderous acclaim, he replied, “We will treat them decently.”

‘If pardons are required, we will grant them because they are being treated so unfairly.’

Before returning his rage to the captives’ treatment, he took aim at the Democrat-led House committee investigating the violence.

‘This hasn’t happened to all of the other recent atrocities,’ Trump said. ‘What that un-select committee is doing, and what the people who are running those prisons are doing — it’s a disgrace.’

‘We will treat them equally and care for the citizens of our country,’ says the president.

Hundreds of persons have been charged in connection with the insurgency in the last year by the Department of Justice.

Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Matt Gaetz of Florida, both Trump friends in Congress, have claimed that the rioters had been mistreated and referred to them as “political prisoners.”

Before taking the stage at the Conroe rally, Trump had a $100,000 per couple lunch and a second fundraiser on Saturday.

Couples were charged $100,000 to join him and Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick for lunch at a secret venue in Houston.
