Egypt advanced to the Africa Cup of Nations final after defeating Cameroon 3-1 on penalties on Thursday night, February 3, eliminating the hosts’ chances of success on home soil.
The second semi-final ended in a goalless draw after 120 minutes, but Egypt won the penalty shootout.

Cameroon took the lead in the shootout, but Harold Moukoudi’s penalty was saved. Mohamed Abou Gabal, the Egypt goalkeeper, also denied James Lea Siliki.
Clinton Njie, a former Tottenham player who needed to score to keep the shootout alive, shot wide after a weird two-step run-up.
Against pre-tournament favorites Senegal, the victory maintains Egypt on track for a record-extending ninth AFCON title.
Mohamed Saah and Sadio Mane, who both play for Liverpool in the Premier League, will go head-to-head.
