Body Of Man Who Drowned At Alpha Beach Is Missing

Olamilekan Olubusade, age 26, is said to have drowned at Lagos’ Alpha Beach while swimming with his companions.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the event to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday and stated that his body had not yet been found as of press time.

According to Hundeyin, the case was reported to the Ilasan police division on Tuesday at around 2:20 p.m. by the deceased’s senior brother, Ayorinde Olubusade.

He said that information received from Ayorinde revealed that on Monday, at about 5.17 p.m. his younger brother, Olamilekan, of Igbo Efon area, Ilasan of Lagos went to Alpha Beach, Igbo Efon to swim with his friends.

“Ayorinde said his younger brother allegedly drowned on the beach. All efforts to trace him proved abortive.

“Based on the report, the police visited the scene and were photographed by a team of Marine and conventional Policemen.

“Meanwhile, search and rescue operations by Marine police and local divers, to recover the body are being intensified. The investigation is in progress,” he said.

Another development included the alleged knockdown of 42-year-old pedestrian Kareem Moshood on Monday as he crossed the freeway at the Agogo Igbala bus stop on the Lagos-Badagry expressway, Morogbo.

According to the police image maker, the victim, who lived at No. 20 Kolawole Street in Pako Ketu, died immediately as a result of the mishap.

According to Hundeyin, a group of traffic police officers arrived at the scene and took photos while the body was taken away and deposited at a public mortuary for an autopsy.

He claimed that while the investigation was proceeding, the driver of the Toyota Highlander SUV with the license plate KRD 711 FX had been apprehended. (NAN)
